The power of pause.
“The pause is a place of power. Go there often.”
In a world that is more fast-paced than ever. Where our days don’t stop. We don’t stop. In a society that thrives on and demands urgency and reactivity. A pause can feel almost impossible.
And yet that is what we come to yoga each week to practice. To carve out sacred space to pause. Where all the notifications, pings, rings, demands on our attention stop for 60, 75, or 90 minutes. Because the pause is important. It is powerful. And it is more necessary than ever.
I like to think of yoga class as a break for the brain. Where your brain that is so on all the time- multitasking, switching from one thing to another- gets a much needed rest.
When we have space and time to do this, when we have time to be quiet and still, it is amazing what happens.
We can process. We can slow down our reaction time so we can think before we respond. We can listen. We can hear and understand what we need better.
The pause is a place of power. And there is strength in our stillness too. Classes like Yin and Restorative might not look like much is happening on the outside.
