Slowing down when life is busy.

“Slowing down asks something of us. It invites us to sit with what we usually rush past. To choose rest when hustle would be easier. To move more slowly, more honestly, even when everyone around us is living a hurried life.” -Abby Rawlinson

These words really resonated with me recently. If we don’t intentionally set aside time to slow down, sit still, be with ourselves, that time might never come. We are always on, always reachable, there is always something more to do.

But time with ourselves is important too. Even when life is busy and the world is noisy. Especially when life is busy and the world is noisy.

What can you do to set aside a little more time for yourself each day? Maybe it is more mindfully enjoying your coffee instead of scrolling while drinking. Maybe it is allowing an extra 5 minutes before you have to be somewhere so you don’t feel rushed and stressed. Maybe it is 5 deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth at the end of the day. Maybe it is putting your phone in another room 1 hour before bed.

It might be something small, but you are helping to create a bit more space for yourself. A little more room to breath.
